Wojnarowski on Get Up this morning: "Kawhi Leonard's focus [is] on Los Angeles, but it's the Clippers not the Lakers."
[–]Celtics AydenRozay 2428 points 11 hours ago
Ah shit. Here we go again.
[–]Lakers Coregame3 1689 points 10 hours ago
Keep in mind that Woj didn't expect LeBron and AD to come to the Lakers these past years, and he has been wrong twice.
[–][LAL] Steve Nash Dropdat87 731 points 10 hours ago
Yeah he was adamant Lakers weren’t getting Lebron all season until a week before it happened. It's really surprising because it was an open secret he was planning to go to LA for at least a few months
[–]Lakers Rudee43 765 points 10 hours ago
He said he was going to philly like an hour before LeBron signed with us lol
[–][LAL] Steve Nash Dropdat87 561 points 10 hours ago
And Lebron didn’t even show up for the Philly meeting and it was 15 minutes away from his house. There’s no way Woj doesn’t have any bias against the Lakers
[–]eternalAlien 319 points 10 hours ago
It's easy just go back to his Yahoo Sports columns in the 2000s.
He is a hater
[–]Raptors murtle37 2306 points 11 hours ago*
Did we not already know this? Woj has been sniffing the Clippers ass all season, I don’t know if he knows anything on this tbh.
[–]zxc123zxc123 124 points 8 hours ago
WOJ is great for his impartial breaking news tweets. Not so much his opinion pieces.
[–]Lakers Coregame3 10 points 9 hours ago
Only against the Lakers.
[–]philjlip 16 points 8 hours ago
It’s also pretty well known he doesn’t like LeBron, wouldn’t be super surprised if he’s kind of fanning the chaos. Wouldn’t worry too much, no matter where the big guys land next year will be interesting - AD and LeBron with some solid role players is a legit threat
[–]deponent 25 points 8 hours ago
He's always been an asshole.
He sucked up to people feeding him info. And he attacked people who didn't feed him info, like Lebron.
[–]Pistons NFM32 57 points 11 hours ago
Why does he hate Lebron so much? Lol
[–][LAL] Lonzo Ball SDF05 179 points 11 hours ago
LeBron has a tight camp that gives their sources to the ones they trust, except Woj. It's been a longtime hate between those two.
[–][LAL] Nick Van Exel flenish-bastard2323 69 points 9 hours ago
Lebron doesnt hate woj lmao, not trusting someone isnt hate
[–]Lakers Klay420 105 points 11 hours ago
Also LeBron has never let Woj into his circle.
[–]Mavericks jaredd5 134 points 10 hours ago
An hour or so before KP got traded, Woj made a list of the most likely teams to acquire him and it didnt even include the Mavs.
[–][LAL] Kobe Bryant Count_Sack_McGee 23 points 7 hours ago
It's nice to see that fans of other orgs are seeing this. Woj had been a regularly hated figure amongst Laker fans the last few years and we came across like whiny bitches for being the only ones complaining.
[–]Spurs Thehelloman0 120 points 10 hours ago
LeBron in Philly would've been crazy, they would have won the championship for sure if KD still got hurt.
[–]Mavericks TotalReflection 86 points 8 hours ago
Hmmm. Could Lebron going to Philly actually prevented KDs injury through a butterfly effect?
[–][POR] Damian Lillard challenger_black 84 points 10 hours ago
Simmons would not have been very useful with Bron around
[–]Celtics DavidElswick 121 points 9 hours ago
They'd probably trade Simmons for Davis lmao
LeBron, Davis, and Embiid is a fucking nightmare
[–]Danny_III 45 points 9 hours ago
Or Kawhi. This was before the Toronto trade
Lebron Kawhi and Embiid. Almost the team they're trying to get in LA. Arguably they could have gotten Kawhi w/o trading Simmons too
[–]abdelibrahim 94 points 9 hours ago
To be fair though it's hard for me to see KL going to the Lakers. He just seems like as guy who wants to lead and not be amongst the drama of the Lakers and whatever will happen night and night out. I also would personally rather see him on the Clippers or stay in Toronto. Would make the league more fun/competitive.
[–]Lakers SunTzu- 61 points 8 hours ago
Go take a look at his siblings twitter accounts. They're out there shooting their mouths off about how the Clippers are garbage and nobody would want to play for them. His family is all-in on that Lakers fandom and it's hard to imagine he isn't as well.
[–]76ers _Lifes_Rich_Pageant 49 points 10 hours ago
Kawhi isn't coming to the Lakers for that $23 million you have left over.
[–]Lakers Konabro 73 points 10 hours ago
”Kawhi wouldn’t turn down a super max from the Spurs with all that money and Pop!”
[–]Lakers Coregame3 29 points 10 hours ago
It's probably going to be 30 or 32 by the end of it.
[–]Celtics pugerko 63 points 8 hours ago
Wow Lakers fans really think they're getting Kawhi.
[–]TrillyTrell7718 78 points 8 hours ago
Wow Celtics fans really thought they'd get AD
[–]Knicks webbie420 18 points 5 hours ago
Man you gotta flair up if you’re gonna talk shit!
[–]Lakers bludhound 30 points 7 hours ago
Lakers aren't getting Kawhi. That's a pipe dream.
[–][CHA] Elden Campbell DonEYeet 25 points 11 hours ago
Also why the hell would Kawhi go somewhere to be the third option? He’s a two time champ and two time finals mvp, he’s not gonna jump on a bandwagon for a ring.
[–]Lakers michaelcabardo 21 points 11 hours ago
well I'm definitely biased here but the more stars you have the more load management you could afford to have right?
[–]Raptors fax-me-some-halibut 35 points 11 hours ago
i honestly dont get where all this Clippers hype comes from. Cant understand why hed want to join them (besides being in LA/family)
[–][LAL] Steve Nash Dropdat87 35 points 11 hours ago
It does seem weird right? It was lakers all last summer, even after the Lebron trade, and then it randomly became the Clippers a week later. I don’t see the appeal at all, especially after how they handled Blake Griffin. I feel like it’ll be Raptors or Lakers, but we’ll see.
[–]seriouslyokay 32 points 11 hours ago
because clips are an up and coming team with solid young players, a great owner, and a great coach? because the clips made the playoffs in the west and took the warriors to 6 games with not a single all-star or max guy?
[–]Raptors RedRocket13 38 points 11 hours ago
Translation: "Adrian Wojnarowski's focus [is] on sucking off the team that feeds him information, not the ones that never tell him anything."
[–]Knicks The_MadStork 156 points 11 hours ago
Woj has no Lakers sources. Don't know if he has Kawhi sources (guessing no?)
[–]Celtics lverson 99 points 11 hours ago
He was one of the earliest to report Leonard and his camp didn't trust the Spurs anymore.
[–]Mavericks Fireeveryonenow1 98 points 11 hours ago
Jalen Rose was the one to break the news or do i remember that wrong?
[–][GSW] Kevin Durant AsnSensation 92 points 10 hours ago
Ye Jalen deserves more credit. Also the first to double down on Lebron to Lakers.
[–]Lakers thesungod_ra 54 points 10 hours ago
Yeah, Jalen’s been right about a lot of things tbh. He predicted the nuggets being good, doubled down on AD to LA very early, etc. gets disrespected a bit too much about 81 and that’s me saying something with my flair
[–]Bulls TakeTheQuickTwo 116 points 11 hours ago
There is nothing dumber than this sub’s obsession with pretending Woj doesn’t know anything.
[–]Pelicans aww-jeez 26 points 11 hours ago*
exactly, the pattern is super obvious. even if he's not 100% accurate all the time, people here act like if he isn't exposing his sources for everything he says that means he's just bullshitting
[–]Warriors ImJustJokingCalmDown 34 points 11 hours ago
He’s always wrong if he’s saying something fans don’t want to hear.
[–]MlSTERBIGCHEST 23 points 11 hours ago*
I would be so fucking confused if a superstar who just had to sit a year signed with the Clippers. They JUST shipped their franchise player on a brand new deal to basketball hell.
Anthony Davis shitting on the Celtics shows players and their families care about these things. There’s no way he goes to the clippers.
[–]Knicks LimitedEdiition 90 points 12 hours ago
Who seriously believes that someone like Kahwi who just won a championship is going to be happy with getting paid less than a max. Might as well spit on his face while you're at it.
[–][NYK] Butch Van Breda Kolff CHRIS__GOD 165 points 12 hours ago
Why even mention the Lakers if they don’t have the cap space?
[–]Lakers Littlelord188 45 points 9 hours ago
All season, the media has been saying, “If X FA wants to sign with a team, they’ll find a way to clear enough cap space.” But when it’s the Lakers, it’s impossible for them to clear 5-9m.
[–]Spurs onamonapizza 47 points 11 hours ago
No. Please stay in the East.
[–]KIawhi 10 points 7 hours ago
He’ll go back to San Antonio and you’ll like it
[–]Spurs winnebagomafia 19 points 6 hours ago
No I don't want him back.
Also I'm lying
[–]Raptors cowhill 45 points 11 hours ago
Made this comment elsewhere but, I'm fairly confident Kawhi signs a short term deal with the Raptors. Makes sense for him since we just won and have a chance to repeat, gives him a couple of years to see what happens with the Raptors after a lot of their contracts expire, and makes him eligible for a super-max deal since he'll have been in the league for 10 years.
If I was Kawhi it would just make a lot of sense to me, especially considering how well everything has gone in Toronto.
[–]AnimeFan_Jackson 556 points 11 hours ago
If Kawhi re-signs with Toronto (or any other team but the Clippers) I'll be convinced that this entire year Woj has just been a mouthpiece for the Clippers. They did hire a bunch of new people for their front office (e.g. Lee Jenkins)
They both appear to have a good relationship
[–]Raptors raptorsbucketnator 360 points 12 hours ago
Lol there goes Balmer's mouthpiece again
[–]Celtics Nilretep 30 points 10 hours ago
Yeah he’s really good on “breaking news” especially with lower tier players. But ever since he’s been at ESPN he’s starting to get a little hot takey.
[–][MIL] Matthew Dellavedova MachineGunDellly 44 points 11 hours ago
I want to be happy for the Clippers, but Woj is historically anti-LeBron, so I'm back to square one, not knowing where Kawhi will go.
[–][NOP] Jrue Holiday POWBOOMBANG 19 points 12 hours ago
I will be kind of sad if Kawhi leaves Toronto. He accomplished all he set out to do and will be loved forever there, it would just be nice to have someone not choose Los Angeles every once in a while
[–]rasuo214 18 points 11 hours ago
Like last year when Paul George decided to stay in OKC?
